Supporting Learning at Home

Learning at home is an essential part of a good quality education.  Reading with your child and hearing them read is the most important help you can give.  It is also very beneficial for your child to have strong times table knowledge, so any help with this is also very useful.

Weekly, written homework is set on a Wednesday to be returned the following Tuesday.  This will consist of a piece of Maths, some English and each week’s spellings.  Children may also be asked to complete a range of Mathletics challenges.  This will provide them with the opportunity to practise the skills that they have been working on in school. It is important that the children get into the habit of working at home.  This will build up their confidence and independence as they move up towards secondary school.

It should be a positive learning experience! They will have opportunities to discuss their homework in school and I am available for advice if they have any concerns.

If you have any questions or concerns, or are able to support our learning in any way, please feel free to come and speak to us.
